The 5th and 6th graders took a trip to Helena to visit the MT Fish, Wildlife, & Parks MT Wild Education Center in Helena on May 10. While they were there, they had the opportunity to take a nature walk and learn about many different species of wildlife found in Montana. They also helped document the species and numbers of birds they saw during the walk. That information will be shared to a research website. Another highlight of the trip was learning about living safely with bears. They learned how to distinguish the difference between a grizzly and a black bear, saw preserved paw and claw specimens from both species, and were able to practice using inert (harmless) cans of pepper spray. It was a great day for everyone. Once again, thank you to our bus driver, Mandy Beachy, for sharing the great pictures with us.
